Jasmin Ashcroft - "Wonder Woman ! "
Jas moved to Dampier in 2006 and lives here with her husband Ron and their two children. Jas has always given back to all the community groups that touch her and her family, right from when her first child joined Dampier Family Playgroup in 2007 and she took on the Treasurer’s role.
In 2009 Jas joined the Dampier Primary School P & C Association once her children’s school live began, staying on the committee until 2015. During this time she ran the Uniform Shop for three years and was the 2013 Fete Co-ordinator, managing to pull together a mountain of volunteers and resources to co-ordinate a hugely successful School Fete.
Jas joined the Dampier Primary School Board in 2017 and commits to their monthly meetings. In 2018 Jas, along with other volunteers, spent many hours of her weekend beautifying the school’s toilet blocks, sanding back the walls, painting them and adding slogans and stickers to help to bring extra smiles to the school kids’ faces.
When a friend reached out to Jas with an idea to help support families in the Pilbara battling a diagnosis of cancer, she immediately joined forces with a small group to help establish REACH US – Pilbara Inc. This not-for-profit charity’s sole purpose is to provide support services to Pilbara residents currently undergoing cancer treatment. Since its inception in 2017, with Jas as Deputy Chair, REACH US has run many successful events, to raise funds for their cause. One of the standout events, definitely a must on the annual social calendar, is the Superhero Quiz Night, which is not just a great fundraiser, but a fun night out for all.
Jas was nominated by Stacey Hambley.
