Ever wonder why some folks are out cycling this time of the year even though it's 400.c !!!
Well there is a simple answer, to raise money and awareness to support a charity of course.
A long term Dampier family, Alex, Kate, Ben (10) and Aimee (7) Burnside Wright do have a love of bicycles and mountain biking is in their blood, even if Kate wishes she could swap hard dirt and spinifex for rolling hills and paddocks. It not unusually to see Alex and the kids out on the Burrup burning up the trails throughout the winter months but this October the family have taken that passion and turned it into a fund raising opportunity.
Of course as all extreme sports fans do they have set themselves no easy target. No between Alex, Kate and Ben ( this year Aimee is their mascot)- “ The Red dog Riders” have set a target of cycling 750 kms in the Month of October as part of the “ Great Cycle Challenge “ which is a national Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI) fundraising initiative held throughout the month of October.”
The BW’s have this target well insight and maybe even surpassing it with a staggering 490 kms. completed to date. So if you pass the BW’s out riding the streets give them a honk and a wave. If you like to follow their progress and want to support them see attached link.
Well done Guys happy riding
