Yesterday we talked about one our achievement today lets talk about our plans !!!

So with business as usual at the DCA its all systems go for 2019. We have some amazing plans and ideas for the year ahead.

First cab off the rank is our wonderful Dampier Art Awards.Budding artists, young and old, get to display their creations and build their confidence for the bigger Art stage. Opening night is set for the 22nd of March with the exhibition to follow which, fingers crossed with more sponsorship, will be open for a full 9 days this year.

Our Citizen of the Year Award for 2018 has a lot to live up to this year, with over 20 Dampier residents nominated last year. Lets hope we can make this a night to remember. Nominations will open soon with the Awards Night date to be confirmed.

We aim to continue our established and loved Markets and Movies in the cooler months and of course, off the back of its recent success, the Dampier Billy Cart Derby will be bigger and better than ever.

Also on the wish list for the year is firstly a Dampier Open Day, a day for all local clubs, groups and associations to show off what they are all about. This will be a community event at the Hub with free sausage sizzle & drinks and some old fashioned family fun. Provisionally booked for April 7th.

A community Garden and a garden competition - the new and the old reincarnated.

A celebration of Red Dog’s 40th Anniversary.

A review and evaluation of our Dampier Community Plan for 2014 - 2019 and with community consultation the development of our next Dampier Community Plan for 2020 -2024.

Working closely with the C of K to bring more youth based activities to Dampier. Watch this space!

And there is more much more but I’m exhausted just reading this.

As always we like to tell people we are only a committee of 12 so if there is something on this list you’re passionate about and would love to get involved with, or you have a brilliant idea you’d like to get up and going, we love sub committees or we work very well to support individual endeavours too. So don’t be afraid to ask, call, tell or share.

Strap yourselves in Dampier - this year’s a big one!
